Russell joined Southeastern in 2019 in the West Region office. He is based in Houston, Texas. Russell is originally from Houston and attended Sam Houston State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a minor in Finance. He is responsible for leading and assisting in various multifamily and retail development projects across the region and provides consulting services to retailers and investors. He is also a licensed agent in the State of Texas. Russell has experience in new ground up development, market strategy, site selection and acquisition, valuation modeling, governmental entitlements, sale-leaseback transactions, lease restructuring, and consulting.
Prior to joining Southeastern, Russell worked for The Kroger Company in the Houston real estate department for 14 years. He spent the last three as Senior Real Estate Manager and Department Head where he led and contributed to various projects in Texas, Louisiana, and Michigan. Russell developed and managed Kroger’s real estate strategy and its $150M annual real estate capital expenditure program across 230 stores in three states. Russell has an ability to create personal partnerships and find common ground for both parties in transactions. This skill led to success in his management and assistance in several corporate real estate initiatives including a four-store sale leaseback transaction, the negotiating of lease restructures, and the Central Region team’s efforts in negotiating and closing on the disposition of surplus property.
Russell started his career in 2004 with Woodforest Bank in The Woodlands, Texas. His primary responsibilities included reviewing real estate loans for accuracy in reporting, verification of document recording, and ongoing monitoring of exceptions. Russell also created and implemented a tracking report for commercial and consumer loans, developed procedures for lot loans, and booked commercial non-real estate loans.
