Aiken Mall Redevelopment

Vic Mills, CEO of Southeastern Development Associates, spoke during the Greater Aiken Chamber of Commerce’s “First Friday Means Business” on Friday, August 5, 2016. The presentation brought out around 200 members to the monthly meeting, according to Chamber President and CEO David Jameson. Southeastern closed the mall deal in May and paid $3,025,000 for the mall property, according to Aiken County property records.

The presentation was to publicly acknowledge the joint efforts of Southeastern Development Associates and the City of Aiken, to redevelop the Aiken Mall to create a lifestyle center with a mix of commercial and residential uses and public spaces. The City of Aiken believes it is in the best interests of the public to encourage the redevelopment of the Aiken Mall and create additional public parks and walking trails for the public’s use and enjoyment (as pictured below).

The presentation touched on the current public issues of Aiken Mall, highlighted the advantages and potential of Aiken Mall, while also proposing future plans.

The Aiken Mall redevelopment will provide entertainment and recreation for all generations, a safe and attractive environment, while creating a desired community destination.
