Mall at Shelter Cove Redevelopment

Southeastern recently purchased the Mall at Shelter Cove located in Hilton Head Island, SC through a joint venture with Kroger. The mall was purchased from Petrie Ross out of Maryland, with Kroger serving as both a joint venture partner and a tenant.  Southeastern plans to tear down a large portion of the existing mall and redevelop it into an upscale mixed-use project named Shelter Cove Towne Centre. A walking village of shops and apartments, this project will consist of 250,000 SF of retail space, an open, park-like atmosphere, and 220 multi-family units overlooking Broad Creek.

Currently, Southeastern is in the process of obtaining accruals from the town of Hilton Head, with construction slated to begin in April 2012.  Kroger plans to construct an 86,000 SF grocery store on the site.  The retail portion of this center will include tenants such as Belk, Talbots, Joseph A. Banks, restaurants, and other various users.  The project is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2013.  Click here to read an article recently published in the Island Packet about the town’s positive response to the proposed redevelopment.  Contact Southeastern agent Jason Long or visit the new Shelter Cove Towne Centre website to learn more about the development.
