John Mills

John Mills serves as SVP / Principal of Southeastern, where he has been a member of the team since 2007. In his current role, Mr. Mills leads the company’s real estate finance activities and oversees select development projects spanning multifamily, retail, and hospitality asset classes. Over the course of his career, he has arranged well over $1 billion in debt financing and been involved in hundreds of millions in development projects. He brings expertise in structuring public-private partnerships and deploying complex financing mechanisms including historic and new markets tax credits, opportunity zone investment, and other incentive-based capital structures. Mr. Mills also oversees site selection, construction management, and operations on select company-owned projects, and serves as a licensed, jet-rated pilot managing the company’s corporate flight operations.

Mr. Mills earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Real Estate from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia in 2005. Prior to joining Southeastern, he served in the Commercial Real Estate Credit Department at Regions Bank, where he underwrote complex loans and developed foundational expertise in real estate financial modeling, market analysis, and capital structure evaluation.
